Coming off a back-to-back-to-back Regular Season Championship season, the New Mexico Women’s Soccer Team wrapped up the 2023 season with an overall record of 5-6-6, just narrowly missing a spot in the Mountain West Championship Tournament. The Lobos saw 11 different players score over the course of the season, with a three-way tie for most points on the team between Sophia Roberts, Natalie DeGagne, and Paris Dalton. Head Coach Heather Dyche owns the most conference wins by any Lobo women’s soccer head coach with 56.

The 2023 Lobos extended the streak of 602 consecutive shutout minutes from the 2022 season to 678, a new program record. The streak ended with a Texas Tech goal in the 77th minute of the season opener. New Mexico tied Texas Tech 1-1, who would go on to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA National Tournament.

The Lobos outshot their opponents this season 277 to 226 (111 to 103 shots on goal) and had more shots per game than their opponents (16.294 to 13.294). The team recorded 15 assists, 20 goals, 64 corner kicks, and 80 saves.

Individually, Myah Isais closed out her career with 73 consecutive starts and played all but 32 seconds this season. Paris Dalton ended her career with her best season yet: career-best nine points, career-best three goals, and three assists. Senior Sophia Roberts added a career-high four goals and one assist, while junior Natalie DeGagne posted three spectacular goals and three assists. Nicole Anderson made her mark in her newcomer season, finishing fourth on the team in points with one goal and three assists.

The program has a history of excelling in the classroom as well, and the 2023 team was no exception. Earning a fall semester GPA of 3.89, the Lobos have now posted a GPA of 3.4 for better for 16 straight seasons. The spring of 2023 brought the second-best GPA in program history and the best GPA in a non-Covid semester, with a 3.87.

New Mexico is looking forward to the 2024 season to get back to the top of the Mountain West Conference and return to the NCAA Tournament.
